Martin LEKARCZYK Obituary

LEKARCZYK, Martin age 75 of Dade City, Fla., passed away February 8, 2013. Martin was born and raised in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He was married to Dorothy Lekarczyk for 47 years. Martin was a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. Martin was a 35-year resident of Dade City, where he moved in 1977. He began teaching in Dade City and served as a tough-but-fair English teacher at Moore Mickens Middle School (until its closure) and then at Pasco High School until his retirement in 2001. In addition to his teaching duties, he was actively involved in the community in support of his children's activities. Martin loved to read and was an avid fan of mysteries, both written and televised. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Dorothy Lekarczyk; and his two sons, Mark Lekarczyk of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jeff Lekarczyk of Tampa, Fla., a daughter-in-law, Lisa Lekarczyk, two grandchildren, Luke (age 8) and Ava (age 4); and a nephew, Jim McKinney and his family of Lutz, Fla. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tues., Feb.12, 2013, at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family will receive friends for viewing from 5-7:00p.m. Mon. evening at the funeral home.
