Marty Lentz

LENTZ, Marty, 65, of Valrico, Fla., passed suddenly November 16, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, retired Lt. Col. Ralph F. Lentz, and is survived by his devoted partner, Alicia Dominicis; children, Brian and Christine Gaitan (Lance); granddaughter, Emily; mother, Rose, of Summerfield; sister, Cathy Baker (Jim); niece, Rachel Parker of Charleston, S.C.; and many other family members and friends. Marty was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and graduated from Mount Vernon H.S. in Alexandria, Va., as an All-American basketball player. He went on to graduate from West Virginia University in 1965. After a career in property/casualty insurance he retired from USAA Insurance Co. in 2005. A gifted athlete and avid golfer, he was always ready for a round. Marty and Alicia attended St. Stephen Catholic Church in Valrico. He was a devoted grandfather to Emily, never missing her fastpitch softball games. We love you, Marty; rest in peace. Funeral services will take place at noon Friday, November 21, 2008 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marty' s favorite non-profit organizations: either Emily' s Softball Team, Team FLA 3850 Talah Drive, Palm Harbor, FL, 34684, or Metropolitan Ministries.
