MARTIN-LANDERS, Mary Huston

87, died at 2:25 am Saturday, Sept 8, 2018 at Sunshine Christian Home in Holiday, FL after a long bout with ovarian cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, Robert L Landers. Mary is survived by her three children, Bruce Martin, of Johnsburg, IL, Victor Martin of Cashiers, NC, Cathie Martin Silano of Holiday, FL and five stepchildren, Robert Landers Jr., predeceased, Carol Beall of Meyersville, MD, Joan Chapman of The Woodlands, TX, Cynthia Landers of Orlando, FL, Marylynne Rahlson of Concord, NH; along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mary was recognized as a premier soprano soloist from her college days at Hastings College, Hastings, NE, through her time in Tampa and Orlando. She was a paid soprano soloist at numerous churches, including Manhattan Avenue Methodist in Tampa and St. Peters Episcopal in St. Petersburg and All Saints Episcopal in Orlando. Mary taught voice at Hillsborough Community College, St. Petersburg Junior College, and Clearwater Christian College by the name of Mary Martin. Remarried, she moved to Orlando where she taught at Rollins College for seventeen years as Mary Martin Landers. Mary was a gifted musician but, more importantly, she was a fine and generous person, a loving mother and respected by all who knew her. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Graveside service will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr., Winter Park, FL, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 10 am.
