Mel DINSMORE Obituary
91, of St. Petersburg, pas-sed away July 25, 2015. Mel was born in Jeannette, PA. He graduated from Jeannette High School, and Pittsburg School of Plastics. He served in the Seabees division of the Navy from 1942-45. He returned to marry Gilda Crimbly, and moved to Pinellas Park in 1947. He continued his education and graduated from Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport, IA. His passion for community service in Pinellas Park was evident by his association with the Chamber of Commerce, Boys Club, Girls Club, the VFW, Wyoming Antelope Club, Teen dances, and the Historical Society. He served on the City Counsel and then served as Mayor from 1966-74. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 68 years, Gilda; his sons, Melvin James Dinsmore Jr. (Sharon) of Buffalo Valley, TN and Robert Michael Dinsmore of Fayetteville, NC.; his daughter, Doreen McLeod (Phil) of St. Petersburg; his grandchildren, Melinda Seymour, Allison Boutwell (Rob), Philip McLeod, Jr, Brittney Berger (Brandon), and Damion Dinsmore; and his great- grandchildren, Alissa and Kailyn Seymour. Memorial and Interment at Bay Pines National Cemetery Monday, Aug. 3, at 10:45 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mel can be made to the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, Bardmoor Branch and can be sent to 600 1st Avenue North, Suite #201, St. Petersburg, FL 33701.

Our country lost a hero, a patriot and a man of action when it lost Mel Dinsmore Sr.. His family lost a loving patriarch and his community a natural leader. I lost a longtime friend. He'll be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
