Mitchell Davis Obituary
of Land O Lakes, Florida, passed away April 24, 2025. Son of Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Evelyn Davis Sr. and reared in Dade City, he was a graduate of Mickens High School, Talladega College and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was retired from GTE Data Services and as Pastor of The Church Of God In Christ in Dade City, Florida, where he served for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Mitchell Davis Jr.; children, Reverend Mitchell Davis III (Mrs. Tamiko Davis), Reverend Mendell Davis, Mrs. Monet Sanders (Reverend Anthony Sanders) and Mrs. Michon Shaw (Pastor A.D. Shaw); grandchildren, Dichon Shaw, Louise Shaw, Inez Shaw, Anthony Sanders Jr., Adam Sanders and Abigail-Matilda Sanders; siblings, Dr. Shirley Harvey, Mrs. Arnetha Patrick (Mr. Hosea Patrick) and Mrs. Gloria Wong. It's still so surreal for me to think of Pastor Davis' passing. I've known him for many years. He used to teach us in YPWW (Young People's Willing Workers) in our church. I was a teenager then. He was a close friend of our family, my Pastor in later years, I even flew with him in a single-engine Cessna airplane many times when he first started flying (he was inspired to fly because of my father obtaining his pilot's license after WWII - he wanted to fly in combat, but because he was African-American, he wasn't allowed to fly, but he took flying lessons through the veterans classes after tour of duty was completed. Pastor Davis was a good man of God, a family man who loved his wife and family very much, and he loved his church family and people in general, regardless of their race. He's rejoicing in Heaven now with our Heavenly Father, Jesus, His Son, and He's met Holy Spirit too. Praise the Lord!
