HANSEN, Patricia Eleanor Beranek "Pat" 90, of Pinellas Park, passed away at home May 20, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dick; and grandchildren, Jessica and Ryan Palmisano. Pat met the love of her life "Dick" while he was a young airman at MacDill Air Force Base. Together they raised and are survived by her three wonderful children, Terri (Chuck) Sarchione, Patti Hansen, and Steve (Kathy) Hansen, grandsons, Griffin Wiley, Michael Hansen, and Brian Hansen; her sister, Sheila (Gene) Gorrell; and many nieces and newphews. Pat was born in Ladysmith, WI and came to Florida with her family in 1949 to start her senior year at Plant High School in Tampa and lived in Pinellas County until her death. Her personality was kind, loving and easy going. Her happiest times were with her family and friends. She was a proud employee of The Tampa Bay Times for 23 years and retired from there. While at The Times she won the Classified "Rose" Award recognizing outstanding sales in the category of "Error Control." Pat was very active, singing and performing with the Gulf to Bay Chorus of the Sweet Adeline's and square dancing with her husband, Dick, as members of the Left Alamanders for over 20 years. As a result, they had many close lifetime friends. She lived in the Mainlands, for almost 20 years and participated in many enjoyable activities. She loved chair volleyball, Red Hat Ladies, the Women's Social Club, pancake breakfasts, holiday events, special dinners and more. Pat also volunteered in the Mainlands library and delivered Meals on Wheels. Her cat, Lola, (named after her mother) was her faithful companion for over 9 years and held a special place in her heart. She was loved greatly by her children and will be missed tremendously. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat's honor to Homeless Empowerment Program (HEP), 1120 N. Betty Lane, Clearwater, FL 33755. The family will have a graveside gathering at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park for her interment at a later time. Visit Serenity Funeral Home 727-562-2080

Pat and I met when her family moved to Tampa and she enrolled in Hillsborough High Schoo her senior year. Her name Beranek, mine Anderson. we were in the same home-room. It was a wonderful relationship that lasted a lifetime. It didn't matter if we had long lapses of seeing one another we could always pick up like it was yesterday. In our youth Pat and I enjoyed a good time. One of my favorite memories is our train trip to New York City
We stayed in the TimeSquare District; saw South Pacific , road the Subway and felt very grown-up at nineteen. I will miss my friend but am comforted by the fact that her life well lived has earned her a spot in the front row and her new adventure will be a good one. Rest in Peace my friend.
