Patrick Barry Obituary

BARRY, Patrick P., 53, passed away suddenly December 4, 2008. He was born in Tampa to William and Suzette Barry. He grew up and attended school in Jacksonville, Fla., with his eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and daughter, Janna. He is also survived by his sisters, Christine Barry of Oviedo, Fla., Annette Tilley (Henry) of Jacksonville, and Nicole Suggs of Jacksonville, Monique Fry (David) of Fort Myers, Fla., and Marie Boyd (Robbie) of Jacksonville; and brothers, Peter Barry (Michelle) of Lawrenceville, Ga., Michael Barry (Sue) of Jacksonville, and John Barry of Jacksonville. Patrick also is survived by his uncle, Joseph Barry of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 14 nieces and nephews; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew. Patrick had a passion for playing golf and a passion for his family. He loved his summertime weeks at the beach, watching his daytime soaps, spending time with his family in Jacksonville, and his recent trip to Europe with his wife and daughter and close friends, Cliff and Terry Curry. Patrick suffered for many years with poor health, but never complained and would tell his family, "It is all good, don' t worry." A visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2008, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, at St. Stephen Catholic Church. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to the Trey Curry Foundation, Platinum Bank, 208 W. Lumsden Road, Brandon, FL 33511. I have many special memories of growing up with the Barry family and in particular with Patrick. From days at St. Pauls to CYO basketball and all the adventures in between, I did a lot of my growing up with Patrick. However the thing that I remember most is his kindness and compassion towards my sister Kathi and how every Christmas he would stop by to wish my parents Merry Christmas. My deepest sympathies to all of you for your loss.

Without Pat I would never have met Nicole and have her as a friend for life. I loved Pat very much as I do all the Barry's and will miss him greatly. I have so many great memories of him that I don't know where to begin.

Mr. and Mrs. Barry, Marilyn and Jenna please know that you and your families are in my prayers.

God has blessed you Pat with your wonderful family, wife, daughter, and the many friends you made along the path to Heaven.

Pat was something special. He had that great infectious smile. I remember he was one of my Mom's favorites when she taught at St. Paul's. He was blessed to have such a wonderful and loving family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

For so many of us, Pat was at the center of some of our fondest memories. CYO softball, Whiteway Deli, cards @ the Smiths, The Bridge. His zest for life always inspired and kept us entertained. We can all say that he was truely one of a kind. Marilyn, Janna, and the family: may all of you feel God's comforting love in knowing that there is hope in all this. We can't begin to imagine the Glory of being in the presence of our Lord. Pat is expericencing that now. God Bless.

When I heard of Pat's death Wednesday night, I started thinking about all the good and fun (and stupid) things we did as kids - Basketball at the Church, Driving the Baha behind BK in the old VW, Running the alley garbage route with Wesley in the VW, and hanging out on the porch. Pat will be missed by many because he touched so many. The Barry Family and Pat will always be in my thoughts when I drive by Willowbranch Park and the old Homestead!
In deepest sympathy.

I grew up side by side with Marie and feel as though I know all of the Barry family as my own. I can still hear, "it's a Mead", in pat's voice, as that is the way he would greet me. My sister Kathy remembers his humor, making her laugh all through elementary school as he drove the nuns crazy. I know his passing is difficult for all of you, Marilyn, Janna, and all the Barry family, but you will be reunited again as one, and that will be a joyous day. May his memories bring you comfort and know that he suffers no more bring you peace.
With hearfelt sympathy and love,
