Patsy BALLANTYNE Obituary

BALLANTYNE, Patsy Sue was born to Juanita and Clayton O. Hatley in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 7, 1931. She passed away on April 14, 2024 in Dewey, Oklahoma at the age of 93. Patsy was adopted at the age of six by her stepfather Reese Thompson where her name was changed to Patsy Sue Thompson. She kept this name throughout her youth while attending school in Collinsville, Oklahoma where she graduated as Patsy Sue Turner after marrying John Newton Turner. They had two children together; Sharon Sue and Fredrick John. She later divorced John Turner. She was an independent woman who primarily worked in office positions moving fairly frequently in her years ahead before Tampa, Florida was named her home. She was a skilled seamstress who made many dresses for her great-granddaughters, clothing and blankets for several charity and benefit auctions as well as Ribbon Shirts for Osage dancers. Though she won many awards in her life for her sewing she found making the Osage shirts to be the most rewarding. She also enjoyed cooking and was put in the hall of fame by her family for a few dishes, they could always count on her making. The dinner served at her celebration of life will be in remembrance of her specialties and family favorites. She is survived by her sister, Betty Joan (BJ) DeFrank; two nephews; one niece; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother; father; and both of her children. Her graveside service will be officiated by Tom Smith and Eddy Red Eagle held on Tuesday April 30 at 1 pm at the Collinsville cemetery with her Celebration of Life to follow at her former home located at 1419 Boundary Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
