Patsy Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, Patsy Marie, 63, of San Antonio, passed away October 4, 2005,after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer and heart disease at home under the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice. Pasty was born May 23, 1942, in Tift County, Ga., and moved to Florida in 1945 to the Dade City area. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Viru Rutherford; her father, S. L. Rutherford; her only son, Scott McCarthy Gebhart; and her sister, Bonnie Hummerick. Patsy is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Garry Newgent; granddaughter and husband, Katie and Mark Zdrojewski; grandson and wife, Chris and Alexis Newgent; granddaughter, Melinda Newgent; her much loved great-granddaughter, SaraKate Zdrojewski; and her yet to be born great-granddaughter, Emma Marie Newgent. Other survivors include her loving sister, Velma Saccone and husband, Frank; brother, Ronald Rutherford and wife, Anita; brother, Vernon Rutherford and wife, Linda; niece, Wendy McMillin; nephews, Donnie Winn, Le roy Larsen, Steve Worthy and Jimmy Worthy; nieces, Robin Rutherford, Sheila Rutherford, Kathy Elrod and Carol Anderson; numerous cousins and a host of good friends. Pasty worked diligently for her beloved sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, in support of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and was elected this year as president of her Rho Chi Chapter. All her sisters of ESA and especially her Rho Chi sisters, Rhonda, Rockie, Robin, Ida, Mary Jo, Janet, Vanessa, Mary S., Sally, Loujean, Mary H., Velma and Sherry will miss her loving support and readiness to do whatever was needed. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2005, in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel in Dade City. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. the following day, Saturday, October 8, 2005, at the funeral home with Pastor Eldridge Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.
