He graduated from United Township High School in 1949. Paul played football for U.T. and earned the nickname "Bulldog" for his tenacity on the field, especially as a kick-off return man. Paul attended Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., and after proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War, he returned to his family home in Carbon Cliff, Ill., and enrolled at St. Ambrose College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956. He joined his father in the family business, Allaert Rendering, and served as plant manager in Carbon Cliff. Paul was later employed by the Rock Island Arsenal after the closing of Allaert Rendering and held the position of management analyst, retiring in 2001. Paul played on the 1951 Quad City Mohawk Football Championship team and was also a very proud member of the Marine Corps League. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, where he served as a reader, usher and also served on the parish council. Paul enjoyed boating and reading and was very proud of his time in the Corps. "Once a Marine, always a Marine."
