Dr. Philip FINK

FINK, Dr. Philip H., 80, of Tampa, went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2015 after a coura-geous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce McGrew Fink; three daugh-ters, Lory Schieler (Stu), Jody Hancock (Jay), and Julie Robbins (Brian); and four grandchildren, Lindsey and Amy Hancock, Jessica and Tel Schieler. Dr. Fink was principal cellist with the Miami Philhar-monic (15 years) and the Miami Opera Orchestra (10 years). He served on the faculties of Miami-Dade Community College (1966-72) and Florida Interna-tional University (1972-94) where he was Chairman of the Music and Fine Arts Departments, respectively, and where he played a major role in the develop-ment of the music pro-grams at these institutions. He was past president of the Florida Orchestra Asso-ciation and Florida String Teachers Association. Dr. Fink was listed as one of five outstanding orchestra arrangers in the country (The Instrumentalist) and many of his arrangements have been published by Columbia Pictures Publica-tions. Dr. Fink also served as the Music Director at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Miami for over 25 years.
