Reynold GARCIA Obituary

GARCIA, Reynold Mario "Rey" passed away April 1, 2021. He was born November 19, 1933 to Mario and Mary Garcia (Giorgianni) in Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 60 years, Marie T. Garcia (O'Donnell). He is survived by his sister, Catherine MacDonald (John); his loving children, Thomas Garcia (Amy), Reynold Garcia (Chin), Karen Garcia, Kristin Alger (Kent); seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and lifelong friend, Louis Rodriguez. Reynold was proud to have attended Jefferson High School and Texas Military Institute, San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Tulane University with his baccalaureate degree and New York University with his Master's Degree in Biological Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Army on active duty and as a reservist. While stationed at Fort Hamilton, New York, he met the love of his life, Marie, and they married April 3, 1961. Together they raised their family on Staten Island, New York. Reynold was a storyteller and had a great love for music. He instilled the value of an education, the love of travel, diversity in music and an appreciation of the arts in his children and grandchildren. He loved tinkering with his computer and collecting "things." What he treasured most was family. He had a fondness for his mother-in-law, Mrs. O'Donnell, that was unrivaled. The Garcia's relocated to to Arizona in 2008. Rey enjoyed his café con leche, listening to Los Lobos, basking in "the horrible Arizona weather" on the patio every morning. He was a New Yorker at heart and Floridian by blood. Servces will be held in Tampa, Florida and Staten Island, New York.
