Richard Flowers Obituary

FLOWERS, Richard Lee "Dick," passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007, in Zephyrhills, Fla. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family members and friends will take place in Indian River at a later date to be announced. Dick was born June 13, 1930, in Flushing, Mich. He was the son of Lovern and Florence (McCall) Flowers, who moved from Flushing to Indian River in 1957. Dick moved to Indian River in 1958, residing at Parrott' s Point on Mullet Lake. He was a longtime carpenter/-contractor in the Indian River area, and retired from DuBois Electric Co. in 1997. Dick loved the Indian River area, where his hobbies included fishing and hunting, and, in years past, piloting his plan over the rivers and lakes. He enjoyed playing the piano and entertained for years around the Cheboygan County area. In recent years, Dick spent the winter months in Zephyrhills, Fla. Dick is survived by his longtime companion, Ann Smith; four children, James (Dawn) Flowers, Flushing, Brenda Flowers, Indian River, Debra Flowers, Indian River, and Lori (Todd) Dimock, Marian, Mich.; brothers, Robert (Virginia) Flowers, Flushing, Ronald (Carol) Flowers, Flushing, and David (Ruth) Flowers, Freeland, Mich.; sister, Beth (Chuck) Marcott, Fenton, Mich.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and Ann' s son, Marvin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scott Flowers, and nephews, Jon Flowers and Robert Flowers.
