Richard PAXTON Obituary

PAXTON, Richard L. "Dick" age 90, of St. Petersburg passed away at home on July 11, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and then moved to Winsted, CT, where he spent his childhood years. He was a proud WWII veteran; enlisting in the Army Air Corps (Air Force) just 10 days after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a sheet metal mechanic for Krauss Company working his way from apprentice to superintendent. He was an active member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. Dick enjoyed the outdoors; especially fishing and hunting. His other passions were restoring and "tinkering" with classic cars and collecting old guns. Dick loved life and as all his friends know it is "Always 5 o'clock somewhere!" Dick was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Mary and son Mike. He is survived by his daughters, Patty Rinehart, Beth Paxton, granddaughter Taylor Rinehart and lots of grand dogs and grand cats. There will be a gathering and service at Anderson McQueen Funeral, 2201 Dr. ML King Jr. Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33704, on Monday, July 21 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you donate in his memory to the Armed Forces Military Museum, Largo, or the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. www.andersonmcqueen.com

Sorry to hear that we have lost Richard, a true hero and survivor. I can remember that he rode his bike from Winsted to Momauguin when he came down to enlist and Mom, Cynthia, then got him to the enlisting station. Guess he now can rejoin the crew of the Berlin Sleeper.
