Robert Brown Obituary

ROBERT W. BROWN Robert W. "Bobby" Brown, 83, of Lake Placid, died December 29, 2007, in Good Shepherd Hospice House in Auburndale, Fla. surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born in Glendale, Calif. December 15, 1924, but was raised in Lake Mary, Fla. and Miami, Fla. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and Miami Military Academy. After graduation, Bobby enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He served at the U.S. Air Station in Miami, CVE Manila Bay, USS Shadwell LSD 15, and the U.S. Naval Air Station at Kanehoe Bay, Oahu, HI. Bobby served as gunner and was honorably discharged as an Aviator Machinist' s Mate, 1st Class Chief Petty Officer. Bobby had been self-employed for two years before joining the A/C and Refrigeration Pipefitters Local Union 725 in Miami where he' d been a member for 56 years. He worked in Miami for Honeywell Control Company for 15 years before retiring to Lake Placid in 1984, where he loved the serenity and kindness of the people. Bobby was a life member of the American Legion PP 25 in Lake Placid and VFW Post 4300 in Sebring. He was Past Commander of the PP 25. Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Pauline (Greer), whom he wed in North Miami in 1973; children, Diane Schoolcraft of Ocala, Fla., William Warren Brown (Dianne) of Tampa, Fla., Alexander Michael Brown of Troy, Mo. and Christy Carlbert of Lake Placid; sister-in-law, Jan Greer of California. Bobby leaves many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren and was blessed with eight great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Lake Placid American Legion Post 25. Pauline and family are very grateful to Good Shepherd Hospice and request donations to them at 4418 Sun N Lake Blvd., Sebring, FL 33874.
