Robert BURWELL Obituary
was promoted to glory following a massive heart attack, October 30, 2018, while preparing to return to Clearwater from his summer home that he dearly loved in Balsam, NC. Bob was born in Decatur, IL February 4, 1938. He attended Purdue University, University of Florida and graduated from University of Tampa. He spent his entire career at First National Bank of Clearwater working his way up to President before the bank was sold to AmSouth Bank. Bob retired from the bank in 1995 but never gave up his volunteering for the various community activities he enjoyed and supported, including, The Salvation Army, Rotary Club Charities, Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, American Heart Association, Golden Triangle, Greater Clearwater Chamber of Commerce, INROADS, Morton Plant Mease Foundation, Robert Morris Associates, Trinity Presbyterian Church, United Way of Pinellas, American Institute of Banking, Banker's Council of Tampa Bay, Clearwater High School PTA, Harbor View Club, Kiwanis Club of Springtime City, Oak Grove Middle School PTA, American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, Clearwater Junior Cotillion, Debutante Club of Clearwater, Elfers Citrus Growers Association, Enterprise Corporation, Morton Plant Hospital Association, Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater, Pinellas County Historical Society, Success by Six, The Long Center Foundation, UPARC Foundation, Casado Club, ATO Florida, Carlouel Yacht & Beach Club, Winchester Creek Country Club , and First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville, NC. Bob is survived by his wife, Merry June Burwell, to whom he was married for 56 years; his daughter, Robin Anne Weeks (Kyle); son, Robert Anda Burwell Jr. "Andy" (Vickie); grandchildren, Chandler, Chase and Sydney; brother, Tom (Cheryl); sister, Sherie; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was an amazing, loving example of a giving Christian whose influence has helped countless people. A service celebrating the life of Bob Burwell will be held this Saturday, November 10, 2018, 11 am, at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, 110 S. Ft Harrison Ave., Clearwater, FL. There will be a reception immediately following in Peace's Roebling Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob Burwell's memory to one of the following, or a charity of your choice (in alphabetical order), First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville, NC; Morton Plant Mease Foundation; Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church of Clearwater, FL; Rotary Club of Clearwater Charities Inc.; Salvation Army, Clearwater & Upper Pinellas County.
