July 15, 2009

THIS ENTRY IS FOR YOU SON....I KEEP YOUR SMILES IN MY MEMORY AND YOUR LAUGHTER. I CLOSE MY EYES AND I SEE YOU...YOU TOLD ME ALWAYS TO "KEEP YA HEAD UP MOMEE" DOING THAT A LOT LATELY AND YES MY SWEETNESS YOUR LEGACY WILL GO ON..THAT WAS MY PROMISE TO YOU. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND I PROMISE I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN...AFTER ALL YOU SAID YOU WOULD TAKE HALF MY HEART WITH YOU AND BRING IT BACK..SO BE WAITING FOR ME WITH ARMS OPEN. I LOVE YOU SWEETNESS. FOR AS LONG AS I AM ON THIS EARTH I WILL MAKE SURE PEOPLE KNOW WHO PFC BUSKEY JR WAS...BIG HEART, FULL OF LAUGHTER, LOVING AND THE BEST SON IN THE WORLD. THIS IS TO YOU MY BABY BOY

oh my son

if i could send a letter to you up above
i'd start out by saying: "i miss you, hugs and kisses and lots of love

but i don't know how to send it, or where it even goes could you maybe ask our father, for i'm sure he probably knows.

this letter would remind you how my love for you began, with ten tiny little fingers on two chubby little hands.

i so want to turn back the clock to those adolescent years, you were never afraid to say "i love you mom" and wipe away my tears

then suddenly you began to grow you had to make choices and decide, which path you'd choose to take in life and the ones you'd push aside.

i remember the day i received that call telling me you made the choice of where you wanted your life to go, hearing the excitement in your voice

it was parris island you were heading for, a goal within your sight though with a mothers trepidation i knew you'd make it through you had the will and strength to fight

it was only a short time ago you went from a recruit to a US Marine, you vowed to protect the United States, family and every human being.

oh my son, you said you'd take my heart with you and you'd bring it back to me you promised son and now you're gone and i'm just feeling so empty

i'm so proud of you but miss you so and want you back with me but i know god has a special angel there with wings on my US MARINE

Robert, Son ,Pal.Just a few of Dads nicknames for you. Just a little Thank You for keeping the doors closed ( or help keeping them closed) on my recent visit. This is a hard one to explain, but for the first time in your life I commend you for being a man and saying no to Dad and I respect you for that. It was true proof that I had raised a wonderful man. Seeing your face at my bedside in a real time of need was wonderful. For this son I have adopted you again as my guardian angel till we see each other again.
I scare your new stepmom and sisters. With this last hospital visit but who thought 4 day stay with surgery and postopt would turn into a tweleve day stay with three days of being in a coma and not remembering anything but that nasty tube being taken out of my throat, they send there love Son , Brother, Uncle Wobert.
There are many memmories in my heart to cherish and hold, till we see each other again.

Love Always
Dad

I can't tell you how many times I have come on here to do this and couldn't make myself touch the keyboard because now I have to come to the realization that Robert is gone. There are no words to express the pain and heartache that all of us that truly loved and knew Robert are feeling. Robert is like a son to me. I am so proud of him for taking that step to join the Marines and trying so hard to turn his life around. He was very proud of being a Marine. In the course of our lifetimes, we cross paths with countless people on an every day basis, most of them in passing, but then there are those that remain forever. Robert is one of those people that once you meet becomes a permanent part of you that fills your life and heart with an abundance of love, laughter and happiness. I am so blessed that he has been in my life all these years. I will hold all the memories tucked into a part of my heart that will always belong to Robert; the jokes, the laughs, the taco nights, his smile, the comfort that you got when Robert was around, all the good times, all the bad times. He loved his family and his close friends with all his heart. I miss you so much, but I know that even though you are not with us physically you will always be my angel watching over and you will never be forgotten. You know how I am with good-byes, so I will just say see you later.
I Love You Son

Robert was more than my best friend....he was my brother. We grew up together, we learned life together, we helped each other, we were brothers. Robert and I went through two serious motor vehicle accidents together and saved each others lives. The last one was just over two years ago, I held him down and took the blunt of the accident. I was driving, but he saved me the first time and all I cared about was his safety. While I was in a coma Robert, Elizabeth, Rachel and Richard were there day after day telling me not to give up and to fight. Robert hung an angel over my bed and when I awoke he gave it to my mother and told her to give it to me if anything were to ever happen. I proudly, yet unfortunately have it now. When I woke up, the first thing I did was call him to make sure he was alright. He cried and made me smile with a Robert joke. He was there for me like I had been for there for him when he risked his life for me. I thanked him everyday, because that is brotherhood. We had so many good times together, the memories are countless. When he joined the marines, I was so proud of him. I talked to him practically everyday. He will always be in my heart, in my soul, in my mind and in my spirit. This is very hard for me, but in my eyes not near as hard as Elizabeth, Rachel, Richard and everybody whom had the pleasure of chilling with him. Richard is like a father to me, I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. Elizabeth and Rachel are my little sisters, I have and will always be there for them. Robert will always keep me in check and motivate me to fight to succeed. We always had a saying, "We Live Together..We Die Together..Blood In...Blood out." If you knew us then you know this. Even though he isn't physically here today, he always will be mentally. I love you brother, rest in peace; we will always have memories, laughs and we will always be blowing circles in the wind together......1

You will never get over the loss of your son Robert, but you will get beyond it, I know this as I lost my first born son when he was less than 5 years old. You were lucky to have your son for so many years, soon you will hurt less and more happily remember the time you shared with him. My condolences to you and your family. Dear Megan...As was already said, no words will remove the pain of loss. But that very grief serves to honour your son's memory as it shows how important he has been in everyone's lives.

It is said that when we are born, we are crying, whilst all around us laugh with joy of the birth; and when we leave this physical earth, we laugh with joy as we begin our 'new' life...while those around us cry.

God bless you and keep you and your family in the palm of His Mighty Hand. And know that we of the Greater Tampa Bay chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America hold you in our hearts and will keep you in our collective and individual prayers.

I can't imagine what everyone is going through right now. Richard, Elizabeth, Rachel, Mommy, and everyone else that was friends with, or knew Robert, I'm really sorry for the loss. When I found out, I was really upset as well. At the viewing, it didn't seem like it was actually happening. He served as a Marine, and I know everyone was proud of him for that. He is in heaven now, more at peace and is watching down on all of us. He may not be here physically;; but in spirit he is always here. I love him;; and I miss him also. He will be missed, and like the bracelt says: "Always in our Hearts".
And forever, that's where he will be.

- Love Melissa.

Dear megan and Bobby's sister's and step father.

To Bobby's sister's you have no idea who I am, but I am Bobby's Aunt Jane, your mom will remember. I remember little bobby coming to our house often, in N.C., I loved him as a grandchild-he was a real joy to me. I am truly mourning his loss as all of his family in New Hampshire. His father Robert Buskey, Sr. is my brother and I can tell you even though there was great distance, we would often talk about Bobby, who we loved dearly. We will keep all of you in our prayers.

I can't tell you enough how proud his father in New Hampshire was of him-he shared all of the military pictures with the family. Thank you Bobby for coming into our lives.

An aunt that will truly miss him.

There is a special place in my heart for such an amazing person.I have known Bort since childhood and there was never a dull moment. The qualities he had were like know other. He was full of laughs and jokes, and always kept a smile on his face.He would some how make up the funniest words and crazy sayings that would make us laugh intill our stomachs hurts.I wish I had spent more time with him as we got older, but I am very thankful for the days spent before he left for boot camp in becoming a proud marine. I will forever remember the good times we shared.I miss you so so much, but in time my heart will heal from all the sadness.Through all the pain and heartache I know I have the best angel that the good lord has to offer. My brother, my best friend, we will meet again, but intill that day arrives I will hold you and our special memories in my heart.I love you and miss you so much.

Robert was like a beloved son to me. My daughter, Bridget, brought "Bart" into our family and it was a glorious meeting. Robert's eyes spoke stories, his voice soothed your soul.

Even though our hearts are shattered into tiny pieces so small they can fit through the eye of a needle we know..... Robert is with God.

I am so terribly sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a child is a mother's worst nightmare - one from which you will never awaken.

You will, I believe, eventually find some measure of peace in the memories you have and the angel on your shoulder and in your heart that will always be with you.

Robert my son or my Pal my Proud Marine. You made us so proud. You turned your life around. You will always be Dad and Carol's Hero and many others too. You wore your colors proudly. Thank you for our best 1st anniversary gift you could of given us with your visit. That talk we had about your future in the Marines will be with Dad's heart forever. You where a 20yr man for sure. Son We Love You.

Although I did not know Robert, I offer my sympathies to those who mourn his passing. After watching the HBO special "Taking Chance" recently, I was impressed by the respect shown to our fallen heroes as they make their final journey home. They are a true brotherhood and I admire each of them. My heart goes out to you in your loss.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and wishes regarding my brother. He was a wonderful brother, son, and uncle who was always there. He was a great marine who loved what he did. We love you Robert. I don't know what I am going to do with out you! Thank you everyone again.

Mr. & Mrs. Gamelin, Elizabeth, and Rachel,

My condolences are with you and your entire family. I didn't know your brother and son personally, but from what I've heard of him he sounded like a great man. The only memory I have of him was when we were younger and we camped out in a tent in your backyard for Elizabeth's birthday and I believe he terrorized all of us girls "camping out alone." Funny times... He was not only a great loss for your family, but to everyone's lives for those who knew him and those that hadn't yet... he seemed to be one of those wonderful souls you could never forget. God Bless him for the man that he was, and for what he did for our Country as a Marine. My prayers go out to you and your family. God Bless...

I knew Bort from a few years back but had just recently gotten in touch with him. He was so proud to be a Marine and was always taking pictures of himself on base. HE was a good friend and person and he will missed by all of us.

Meg - there are no words. You know I was completely shocked and saddened... I know you will continue to carry that pride you had for Robert. He died very happy, very proud, absolutely loving what he did, and a hero. He was one of the best in the world - a United States Marine! OORAH! With Lee in Iraq, it makes it all the more - I don't know - scary? Real? I don't know. I know I'm glad that I met you, and I'm glad that I could get to know Robert b/c of you. Treasure that Valentine's Day "surprise" visit just 16 short days earlier. There was a reason. God truly did bless you with that time. I am so very sorry for your loss. I feel it, but I can still only imagine. I wish Lee were home, and we were down there with you during this time. We need to keep all of our troops in our prayers - overseas and stateside. They sacrifice tremendously for our freedom, our rights, and our country. Every single one of them. You really must come up and stay with us, when the timing is right and you're ready to be in the area. I'm thinking of you. My prayers are with you. My phone is on for you. I am right here for you. I'll do whatever I can.
