Robin Leigh SHERMAN

1946 - 2018

71, of Safety Harbor, FL, passed away on December 31, 2017, surrounded by his family. Robin was born in Norfolk, VA on July 4, 1946, to the late Elizabeth Trankley McPherson and Norman Leigh Sherman. Robin lived in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, VA, before finally settling down in Florida. Always the athlete, he loved the rigors of football, wrestling and track. In 1964, his senior year at Oscar Smith High School, he was voted "Most Outstanding Athlete". After high school, he attended ODU. Robin served his country proudly as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp Active Duty and Reserve. He would go on to co-found Chesapeake Bay Corporation, a land development company that completed many projects around the Hampton Roads area. Robin's true passions were boating, fishing, scenic car rides, sports, and cinema. More than anything else, Robin loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Thorp Sherman; son, Robert Baynes Sherman; daughters, Robynn Leigh Taylor, Kari Ann Sherman, Erin Elizabeth Possert (Nathan); six grandchildren; and brother, Ricky L. Sherman (Barbara). Everyone who had a chance to be a part of Robin's life were truly blessed. He was a very kind and gentle soul. Robin is now with his Lord and Savior and will be loved and missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service for Robin Leigh Sherman will take place on January 20, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at Dobie's Funeral Home in Tarpon Springs, FL.
