Rose Frias Cordero: December 11, 2015

Rose Cordero of Santa Paula went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 11, 2015. She was surrounded by loved ones as she took her final breath. She had just celebrated her 76th birthday.

Rosie was born in San Fernando, California on November 25, 1939. She was a longtime resident of Fillmore, and graduated from Fillmore High School. She relocated to Santa Paula after marrying Fred "Lico" Cordero. Together, they raised 3 wonderful and caring sons. Rosie had many loves in her life, which included sewing, gardening, bowling, and the Lakers, but her greatest love was her family, her granddaughters, her love for animals; especially her four-legged boys, Obie and Dukie, and her many friends. God's love shined through her in the way that she lived her life. There was no room for anger, bitterness, or unkind words. Rosie was the true example of what love should be.

During her years of employment, she was able to touch many lives. Rosie worked as a Sewing Supervisor for Olga from 1968-1996. After decades of blessing people with her gentle instruction and leadership, she moved on to another rewarding career. From approximately 1998-2005, "Miss Rose" touched the lives of many children as she worked as an Instructional Aide for Barbara Webster, McKevett, and Blanchard Elementary. Her glorious smile, exceptional sewing skills, and kind heart served her well as she assisted students, teachers, and staff in her educational career.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Benigno and Mary Frias, her firstborn son, Rene Isaac Cordero, and her brother, Ruben Frias. She is survived by her husband, Fred, her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Cordero (wife of Rene) ? granddaughters, Gabrielle & Alexandra, Rodney & Terry Cordero -granddaughter Ryanne Boysen, and James & Angela Cordero. Her surviving siblings are George Frias (wife Bea); Betty Sosa (husband Gilbert); Rudy Frias (wife Dee); and Joel Frias (wife Catherine). She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

Her life will be celebrated on January 8th with a Rosary and a mass taking place at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, located at 427 N. Oaks St., Santa Paula, 93060. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM, with the mass and reception immediately following.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Funeraria del Angel Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula, CA 93060

As her husband Fred so lovingly put it, "One Rose was our garden." She will forever live in the garden of our hearts.

My condolences to the family. I remember Rose way back from the Olga days. She always had a ready smile when I ran into her in later years. That is what I hope her family will remember about her - her ready smile.
