Steven KELLEY Obituary

KELLEY, Steven Kent Treasure each moment as tomorrow isn't promised. July 5, 2022, one of the good guys, the love of my life, friend, husband of 49 years, father of our two children, and grandfather of five became a heavenly guardian angel. Steve passed peacefully of respiratory failure after a three year battle with cancer, Non-Hodgkin's T Cell Lymphoma. Born in Joliet, Illinois, Steve was a graduate of Simsbury High School Class of '71, attended Paul Smith's College, received an AS from Northwestern Connecticut Community College, BS from Central Connecticut State University, and an MBA from the University of Hartford. He worked many years in the insurance field and in restaurants (Rosewood and Black Dog Tavern). His insurance career started with Connecticut General Life Insurance Co (now known as CIGNA), Metropolitan Life, Northwestern Mutual, and Kelley and Associates. Fourteen years ago he left the insurance field and worked for Brandon Regional Hospital in Food Services before his retirement four years ago. Steve enjoyed and cherished his family, the beach, music (live concerts especially), cars, the Lottery, the Stock Market, and peanut butter pie. We travelled the entire United States and visited all but one state. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor, which will be missed. Predeceased by his parents, Robert B. Kelley and Arlee G. Morgan Kelley, he is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Shannon Brown and son-in-law, Leith Brown; son, Shawn Kelley and daughter-in-law, Amanda Kelley; grandchildren, Ethan Brown, Sawyer Brown, Natalie Kelley, Quinn Brown, and Audrey Kelley; sister, Connie Moss and brother-in-law, Rick Moss, many in-law siblings, nieces and nephews, and friends all of whom he loved. There will be a Celebration of Steve's Life August 6 from 3-5 pm at Center Place Fine Arts and Civic Association, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon, FL 33511. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following or to a charity of your choosing: 1Voice Foundation, American Cancer Society, Campo Family YMCA, Center Place Arts & Civic Association, Inc., Freedom to Walk Foundation, Kappa Kappa Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi, Ryan's Case For Smiles. Until we meet again, I'll love you forever and carry you in my heart always. Rest In Peace Steve.

Nancy... What can I say about 53 years of friendship? You and Steve have been good friends (like family) through the years, and it’s hard to know what to say. Steve was a great guy... a real people person with a real love for his friends and, of course, family! He loved you all so much! In all the years I’ve known Steve, I never heard him say a negative word. Sooo many memories, and so glad you’ve all been a part of my life. Hang onto your memories and the knowledge of his love! My love to you, Shannon, Shawn and their families... (I know how tough it can be)

Nancy and family, I was so sad to learn of Steve's passing. You two were such a cute and fun couple to see at our Simsbury High School reunions. So glad you made the trips. I wish you all peace and happy memories.
