William Poe Obituary

passed away on February 25, 2016 with his high school sweetheart, Anna, by his side. William was born on December 3, 1951 in West Helena, Arkansas to Rev. Leslie and Trudie Poe, the youngest of six sons. He moved to Zephyrhills, Florida in 1962, and spent the remainder of his life there, graduating from Zephyrhills High School in 1969. William dedicated his life to his family and his country, serving in the United States Army Reserves for 41 years. His service included two tours overseas during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition to his love for his country, was his great love for his family. Those he is survived by include his wife of 44 years, Anna Doerr Poe, his two sons: William Poe, Jr. (Kim) and Christopher Poe (Meghan), 5 grandchildren: Joshua, Madison, William III, Mia and Ava, mother: Trudie Poe, brothers: Charles (Beth) Poe and Ben (Margie) Poe, brother-in-laws: Henry Doerr and Mike Doerr, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Leslie Poe, and brothers: Larry Poe, Donny Poe, and Ken Poe. William C. "Bill" Poe, Sr. will be remembered for his service heart, his unwavering love for his family and friends, and for being the best "Pop" around! His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 2nd at Zephyrhills' First Church of the Nazarene in Poe Chapel at 6151 12th Street, Zephyrhills, Florida 33542. The family will accept visitors from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM, with services to immediately follow.
