Reymundo Patricio Valerio

Born on September 4, 1937, to the late Leonardo and Claudine Valerio in Ranchos de Taos. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on September 20, 2025, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leonardo and Claudine Valerio; his father and mother-in-law, Solomon and Liziada Martinez; brother Lalo Valerio; and granddaughter Marissa Chavez. Reymundo is survived by the love of his life of 65 years, Diana Barbera Valerio; his children Ray Valerio (Edwina), Melissa Chavez (Jeff), and Richard Valerio (Michelle); his grandchildren Brittany Pomales (Javier), Raymond Valerio (Tynae), Teryan Ulibarri (Jeff), Demi Ramirez (Ray), Alyssa Acosta (Raul), Jeff Chavez, Nyana and Braelyn Valerio, Christina Salazar (Brandon), Lorenzo Gurule (Sivreana) and Elizardo Gurule (Angelica); 16 great-grandchildren; his brothers Henry Valerio (Josie), Tony Valerio (Tere), Manuel Valerio (Juanita) and sister Tina Torres (Sal); many other extended relatives and good friends. Reymundo started working at a young age doing construction with his dad. Then he worked in the Mines until 1986. In 1989, he was employed by the Town of Taos until his retirement in 2011 as the Building Maintenance Supervisor. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Reymundo loved doing carpentry work, fishing, hunting, and gathering wood in the mountains. He also loved coffee and conversation with his brothers and friends. A man of strong faith, Reymundo was a devoted catholic and faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church. His loving, caring, and hardworking spirit will be remembered by all who knew him. Serving the family as pallbearers are Jeffery Chavez Jr, Jeff Ulibarri, Benjamin Valerio, Raul Acosta, Zachary Martinez, and Brandon Salazar; Honorary Bearer is Danny Trujillo. Rosary was recited on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 6 pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 12 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, burial was followed at the Sierra Vista Cemetery.
