Andrew Carnegie Obituary

Andrew "Drew" Carnegie

Fort Pierce, FL

Andrew "Drew" Carnegie died June 14, 2018, in Fort Pierce FL while in hospice care. Drew was born on June 10, 1956 in Wadsworth OH and grew up in New Ipswich NH. At Mascenic High School he lettered four years in basketball and baseball, and was the top student in his Building Construction Program class. He graduated in 1974. Throughout his life he was a carpenter extraordinaire who loved challenges, took great pride in his work, and rarely found a problem he could not fix. He always was generous with his time helping friends and family with their projects. After high school he went west to ski and later returned to Vermont where he taught skiing. He was a natural teacher who was happy to share his skills. His boat and fishing became the center of his life when he moved to Florida. His family and friends spent many happy hours with him deep sea fishing. The trip wasn't over until every one caught a fish. He also earned a captain's license and a scuba diving certificate. Drew helped design and build the Treasure Coast Disc Golf Course in Fort Pierce. He enjoyed working to improve and expand the course as well as organize competitions.

Drew was predeceased by his father, Andrew Carnegie. He is survived by his mother, Ann Carnegie Preston, of Peterborough NH; his sister Virginia Watkinson of Northwood NH; his brother David Stephen Carnegie of Kansas City KS; his nieces and nephews Rebecca Watkinson of Hoodsett NH, Paige Specht and her husband Henry of Shawnee KS, Eric Carnegie of Denver CO, and William Watkinson and his wife Chelsey of San Diego CA; his step brother and sister Sharon Preston Newton and her husband Ben of New Smyrna Beach FL and Michael Preston and his wife Jeanna of Fullerton CA.Drew's many friends and family members will greatly miss his humor, his honesty, his generous and loving spirit. Donations may be made in Drew's memory to Treasure Health Hospice, 5090 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce FL 34981. Arrangements entrusted to All County Funeral Home & Crematory - Treasure Coast Chapel

Drew will be sadly missed however we have the memories that are all good. We will miss his smile his laughter and love especially for his friends and family. He loved to camp on the island. He loved to cut the firewood and keep that fire going. He would also make the trip across the river to the dock in order to drop off people and to pick up others. May he rest in peace and fly high.

Drew was one of the kindest man I have ever met in my life. In 2010 my Ex-Husband an I moved into a new home. Drew came over to help us figure out how to remove a staircase. He got it done it 1 day. His kindness will live on through many of us in Ft. Pierce. My deepest condolences to his Mother and Family...He was one of the Good Guy! Much love to you all. Nikki Saibic
