Charles Daly Obituary

Charles Jerome "Chuck" Daly, 78, died May 9, 2009. He coached for 38 years at the high school, collegiate and professional level. Some of his professional highlights include being inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1994; serving as an Olympic Gold Medal Coach for the USA Dream Team in 1992; being a two-time NBA Championship coach for the Detroit Pistons in 1989 and 1990; winning 638 games as an NBA Coach in 14 seasons, Cleveland, Detroit, New Jersey and Orlando; winning 151 games as a collegiate coach in eight seasons, Boston College, University of Pennsylvania; and winning 111 games as a high school coach in eight seasons in Punxsutawney, Pa. He received his bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg University and his master's from Penn State University. Survivors include his wife, Terry Daly; daughter, Cydney of Orlando; brother, Bud Daly of Maryland; and two grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jupiter Medical Center. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. May 12 at Aycock Funeral Home in Jupiter. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. May 13 at St. Jude's Catholic Church, followed by interment at Riverside Memorial park.
