CORNELIUS "JOE" BOZEMAN BOHANNON, III

VERO BEACH, FL

Joe Bohannon, 71, of Vero Beach, Florida died September 19, 2016. He was the son of Cornelius Bohannon, Jr. and Louise Darby Bohannon. Joe grew up in Gainesville, Florida where he graduated from P. K. Yonge Laboratory School. Joe attended Rollins College in Winter Park, FL and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967, as well as a Master's in Business Administration from the Crummer School of Business in 1968.

After college, Joe joined the Navy and earned his wings as a Naval Aviator. He was assigned to VXN-8, Patuxent Naval Air Station where he flew the P-3 Orion and C-121 Super Constellation aircrafts during his service. After leaving active duty, Joe continued as a commissioned officer in the Navy Reserves until retiring in 1989 with the rank of Naval Commander.

Joe worked for several banks during his long and successful career, including First and Merchants National Bank (now Bank of America) as an asset based lender. He retired from SunTrust bank in 2005 as the Sr. Vice President for Special Assets.

Joe is survived by his wife, Annette Toll Fitch Bohannon, son Ryan Darby Bohannon, daughters Katherine Bohannon Colburn and Chelsea Ann Bohannon; step-sons William Geoffrey Fitch, and David Preston Fitch, sister Louisa Bohannon Taylor and eight grandchildren.

Services were held on August 31, 2017 at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. with full military honors.
