David Corrie Obituary

DAVID CORRIE David Taylor Corrie, 58, of Vero Beach, formerly of Charleston, West Virginia, died in Iraq on December 6, 2007, following a brief illness. David was born on August 30, 1949, in Charleston, West Virginia. He attended schools in WV and graduated from West Virginia University, where he was inducted into the American Society of Civil Engineers in recognition of his academic achievement. David was employed by the WV Department of Highways before moving to Vero Beach. He then spent time in Kuwait working as a bridge engineer for the Kuwaiti government. He returned to Vero Beach and worked for Kimley-Horn Engineering. For the past 2 1/2 years David proudly worked as a civilian engineer with the USAF 332 ECES/CEC Red Tail Engineers at Balad Air Base in Iraq. David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth McClure Corrie of Vero Beach, formerly of Charleston, WV. He is survived by his former wife and close friend Eileen Corrie of Bradenton, Florida, sister Joan and brother-in-law Malan Blanchard of Jasper, Georgia, and brother John and sister- in-law Renee' Corrie of Hurricane, WV, many nieces and nephews and good friend Renee' Jordan. In accordance with David's wishes, he will be cremated. Family and friends will celebrate his life at a later date in Florida.

I am very happy that I had the pleasure of meeting David and Eileen Corrie. David was a great person and friend. I will miss him dearly. I am happy to say I had the opportunity of running into him 3 weeks ago and was able to hug him and chat for a short time.
