Donald Foster Mahaney Sr.

DONALD FOSTER MAHANEY, SR., 81, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away on June 27, 2013 at his home. He was born April 24, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of William and Theresa Mahaney. He has been a resident of Vero Beach for 24 years, previously residing in Long Green, Maryland. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He proudly served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division. He was the Founder of Allied Container Corporation and Allied Packaging Corporation located in Baltimore, Maryland and remained Chairman and Owner for thirty years before retiring in 1989 and moving to Vero Beach. Don was a true sportsman who loved golf, boating, big game fishing, scuba diving and riding his Harley Davidson. Being a Member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, his greatest avocation was Flying and he was an instrument rated Pilot for most of his adult life. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Jeannette Windsor Mahaney of Vero Beach, Florida; his daughter, Theresa Lynn DiVirgilio of Sarasota, Florida; and his son, Donald F. Mahaney, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild, and his beloved dog, Princess. A Celebration of Life in Don's Memory will be held at the Christ By The Sea United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Clifford Melvin will officiate. A private internment will be held at the John's Island Cemetery in Indian River Shores.
