John Cannis Obituary
Port St. Lucie, FL
Dr. John Cannis was born on March 30, 1915. He attended La Salle Military Academy, Columbia University and New York Medical school. He carried out his internship and residency at Mulhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield N.J and worked as an ob-gyn for a few years, then became a general surgeon. He was Chief of Surgery for many years and was known for his outstanding teaching methods.
John was married to his late wife Lorraine Cannis for 50 yrs, they shared a daughter, Diane, who passed 3 years ago. Surviving are 5 children: Lynne Glasgow, Jay Cannis, Robert Cannis, Susan Cannis and a step-daughter Bonnie Jenks. John had 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He died at the age of 102.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to any Cancer Society in Dr. John Cannis' name.
The viewing will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 8:30-10:15am at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL.
Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2330 SE Mariposa Ave, Port St Lucie, FL.

I knew Dr. John P Cannis for 18 years and loved him dearly. He was smart, sweet, funny, wise, generous and loving. He was always a gentleman. He loved animals and our dog Rusty was very fond of him also. He loved to feed the birds in Jensen Beach and always enjoyed a jelly filled donut and a hot cup of coffee.... I have so many good memories of our times together and will never forget him. Rest in peace Doc.......Karen E. Scott aka Katherine xo

God Bless Dr John! He was a faithful attendee at Catholic Rosary and Communion Services at Brookdale where I've had the pleasure to volunteer for the past 2 years.He will be missed!
