John Jochem Obituary

John H. Jochem, 67, died Oct. 3, 2005, at his home. He was born in Coral Gables and lived in Stuart for 39 years. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Florida, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He served as a captain in the Army from 1960 to 1962. He began his career at Don Allen Chevrolet in Miami. He founded John Jochem Chevrolet on Oct. 3, 1966, after moving to Stuart, and served 20 years in the Chevrolet Management Council. He served on the board of directors of the First Union Bank and was a member of the Martin County Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Kiwanis Club. He was an avid golfer and held memberships at the Riviera Country Club in Miami, Willoughby Country Club in Stuart and the McArthur Golf Club in Hobe Sound. He also enjoyed skiing and piloting an airplane. Survivors include his wife, Hope Jochem of Stuart; children, Derick Servin Jochem of Stuart, John Fullington Jochem of Jensen Beach, William Barton Cockayne of Coral Gables, Kristen Elaine Jochem of New Orleans and Philip Hunter Jochem of Stuart; sister, Ginger Jochem of Coral Gables; brothers, George Fullington Jochem of Atlanta and Robert J. Jochem of Gainesville; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Lloyd Jochem Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Episcopal Church â€Â" Shaping our Future Fund, 623 E. Ocean Blvd., Stuart, FL 34994. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 7 at St. Mary Episcopal Church in Stuart.
