I had prepared this for Jack's Mass, but it could not be happen there because there were just too many who wished to speak.

So, from long time friend Duane Shodeen.

I have known Jack Skrypek for over 50 years. I first met him about the time we both started working for the DNR. After our retirements, we continued to make our traditional fishing trips together.
He began his time with the DNR by working in a boat on the Mississippi River and he retired as Fisheries Chief in 1998. He produced numerous notable accomplishments during his career but, a common thread through all was his love for our lakes, rivers and streams. He was committed to protect and enhance those water resources in an effort to make them available for future generations to enjoy, just as he had.

Jack had the ability to make all of us who knew him, better people through his association with us. You watched, heard, and saw how he lived his life. How he treated others, how much he sought and believed in the truth, how he stood by his convictions and his undying trust in his Lord. He did not tell us we should improve our lives, he simply led by example. Examples which could not be ignored.

Jack was not one of the best people I have known.-----No because----Jack Skrypek was the best human being I have ever known.

May God comfort you in your loss. I worked under Jack's able supervision in the early 1980's, and also later after Jack was promoted to head of Fisheries. He cared about our natural resources and the people he worked with. -Scott Gustafson

Jack was the Best! When Julie and I lived in the Cities, we enjoyed the Visits with Jack. I remember like yesterday, when Donny and Jack were at Mom and Dad's 50th Aniversary Celebration. Such a nice visit at our old Homestead. Great Man! Great Cousin! The Best! Love and prayers to the Skrypeck Family! Love Roger and Julie Bofenkamp

Rarely in life are we endowed the privilege to come across great people. I was lucky and blessed to have met and known Jack; an unquestionable semblance to all that greatness defines. To his family and all that knew and loved him, may precious moments spent with him help thwart the grief. May his legacy help fill the immense void he has left. Jack, you will always be missed. God bless you all

I was privileged to have Jack as both a colleague and as a mentor while working on many Upper Miss. and DNR projects. He was always calm, funny, compassionate, and deeply thoughtful. Simply put, he was a terrific human being. In my life's experience, he was an irreplaceable soul. Please accept my condolences on your loss. Glenn Radde

Janet, Fr. Greg, Patty and all the Skrypek family: Jack will truly be missed. I miss all the fun times when he, Uncle Bert and Janet would come up to see us Bofenkamp's. Sometimes others would get to join them also. It was a treat to see them every summer. Also miss coming to visit all the relatives with Dad and Mom and miss seeing all the relatives in St. Paul. I am so glad I got to see Janet and Jack and have a nice visit with them when Tim and I were down for a Twins game. We had such a nice visit and talked about old times. Jack was so good about emailing and keeping us up on what was going on. He will truly be missed. Stewart will be there representing the Lloyd Bofenkamp family. As you know all of us want to be there, I sure wish we were closer to you. Fr. Greg was so nice to come up to Fr. Corey's ordination last summer. I know Jack and Janet really wanted to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love, Annette and Tim Nelson
