Joseph Baggs Obituary

JOSEPH WILLIAM
BAGGS Joseph William Baggs passed away peacefully at his home on May 17, 2014. Joe was born on November 24, 1952 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. After Joe got drafted in the US Military 1971 draft, he served his 2 years in the US Army and then Joe joined his family in Florida and worked for Harris Corp. and Western Technologies Automation, Inc, and under the GI Bill finished his Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science in 1979 at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. This was when Joe began his entrepreneurial career and was co-founder and president of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Inc. and then Optical Process Automation, Inc. of Melbourne, Florida and within each he was co-author on multiple U.S. patents in the fields of micro-electronic fabrication and optical processes. In 2002 Joe retired in Micco, Florida. He is survived by his daughter Katherine Pennypacker Baggs Lulich, grandchildren Hanna Rose Lulich and Archer Mason Lulich, fiance Amanda Cummins, his mother Rhoda Baggs, of Vero Beach and sisters Rhoda Baggs of Melbourne, Florida and Christine Baggs MacCrum of Rice Lake, Wisconsin. It was Joe's wish to have no services. Memorial gifts to honor Joseph can be made in his name to Florida Institute of Technology, Office of Development, 150 W. University Blvd. Melbourne, FL 32901.
