Mathew Lundeen Obituary

Mathew D. Lundeen

Vero Beach, FL

Mathew Douglas Lundeen, 42, of Vero Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2018. He was born on August 17, 1975 in Erie, PA but considered Vero Beach his hometown after moving here when he was just four years old. Matt was a graduate of Vero Beach High School where he excelled academically and played for the Varsity Baseball team. He then attended the University of Central Florida where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. After college, Matt moved back to his hometown and opened Storage Solutions which he owned along with his brother Mike. He currently was the Director of Accounting for White Glove Moving and Storage in Vero Beach.

Matt loved to stay active and enjoyed to fish, as well as play volleyball and baseball. If he wasn't playing ball he was still in the dugout, doing his favorite thing, coaching his daughter Emily in softball and his son Mason in baseball. Matt was an avid sports fan and loved Alabama football and the Pittsburg Steelers. Neither compared to his first love however, the Los Angeles Dodgers. He grew up watching games in Dodgertown during spring training while meeting his favorite players and getting their autographs. He was also a huge collector of baseball cards. Matt shared his love of sports with his children year round but the LA Dodgers forged an extremely special bond between him and his two children.

Matt is survived by his wife Misty, together for seventeen years; his daughter Emily (18), and his son Mason (9); his parents, James Lundeen and Linda Jones Lundeen; mother in law Jayne Saia and fathers in law John Short and Sal Sai; brother Michael Lundeen; nephew Caleb Lundeen and sister in law Erika Lundeen. He was a loving brother in law, uncle, nephew and cousin to his many family members in Louisiana, Pennsylvania and other states. His sweet disposition and kind smile endeared him to the many friends and family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marcus Jones and Leah "Eleanor" Smith Jones and paternal grandparents Donald Lundeen and Elizabeth Kelly Lundeen.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday April 11th at 6:00pm at Calvary Chapel Vero Beach located at 941 18th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. The family is asking, in honor of Matt's love for the Dodgers, to please wear Dodger Blue to his services. Please remember to hug the ones you love every day and tell them how much you love them because you never know when the last time will be.

In lieu of flowers, donations, which will be used by the family to cover related expenses, can be made at www.gofundme.com/a-healing-pitch. Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. An online guestbook is available at www.lowtherfuneralhome.com.

Matt was lifted up with Christ on Easter Sunday. May he Rest In Peace. My heart goes out to the whole family.

Matt was such a kind, gentle, funny, and all around great guy. He was a man who any mother or father would be proud to call their son or to have their daughter marry him. He was such a wonderful and caring father. We are so profoundly sad for the loss of Matt, both for his entire family as well as everyone who had the opportunity to know Matt. The world has truly lost one of the "good guys".

With our deepest sympathy,

Dennis and Mimi Koerner
