Michael Orticelli Obituary
MICHAEL LAWRENCE ORTICELLI Michael Lawrence Orticelli passed away March 16, 2015 in Mesa, Arizona. Michael was born April 19, 1973 in Danbury, Connecticut to Larry and Mary Della Orticelli. Michael was a graduate of SUNY Purchase College in New York with a BFA degree; he was an accomplished artist with a specialty in custom designed fine jewelry working in the Phoenix area. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and cooking with his children and friends. His zest for life and his irreverent sense of humor are part of his great legacy. Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents Walter Paris and Dorothy Paris Hart and Antoinette Orticelli Palanzo. Michael is survived by his parents and sister Marlene Paris Orticelli of Vero Beach, FL, his children Beckham and Reese of Mesa, and several extended family members and countless friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 3:00pm at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ 85202. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a fund being established for Michael's children or to a charity of one's choice.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mike was my friend and college roommate for a few years when we went to Purchase together. He was a sweet, sensitive, creative and caring person and I miss him a lot. I have so many good memories (and pictures) of Mike that I would love to share if you want to get in touch.

I met Michael last year, his kiddos and my kiddos attend the same school and grade. He had such a great sense of humor and such love for anything artistic ! His love for his children was so beautiful. He had a quick wit about him and was such an intelligent person! Prayers to the Orticelli family in this difficult time. RIP Michael! I met Michael when I was 16 yrs old and we dated until he went to college at Purchase. He was truly an amazing man. I have saved all the letters he wrote me and quirky cards he drew for me :) His heart was golden and pure. Michael, you will be dearly missed. <3

You're father Michael was one of the brightest lights I ever knew. All I remember is his smile and how he always intently would listen. He had a way of being uplifting. I have only fond memories of him. I'm going to miss talking about music with him and his witty and sharp sense of humor. Michael was a brilliant and creative human being. He will forever in my mind simply be larger than life. He will forever be missed and cherished by all who knew him. And I will always remember how he inspired myself and others. What I remember...We always thought you were too cool. We {Marlene and I} were little girls running around your parents house causing a ruckus, pretending to be whatever animal our imagination took hold of that weekend. The past few months watching the "back and forth" between you and your sister has made me laugh so much ( no joke, you two have been a riot!}. I didn't know Michael but I was at the scene of the accident holding his hand and talking to him until the police and EMTs got there. My prayers go out to Michael, his family, his friends and his children. May he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the Orticelli Family. I met Mike at Camp Shu-Ta-Win and quickly became friends with him. He was like no one I had ever met before! We lost touch after camp, as often happens, but I have never forgotten my dear friend. So hard to believe that he is gone. While, he may not have been with us long, if I know Mike, he didn't waste a moment of his time here with us. May the wonderful memories that you have of him bring you strength in your weakest moments and light in your darkest moments.

I'm very sorry to hear about this tragic accident. I didn't know Michael very well but I remember meeting him at The Amazing Meeting. We sat on the floor together when all the good seats were taken. He was very kind and fun to talk to. He gave me an SGU keychain. He also went out of his way to get me a book I wanted. It was so thoughtful and generous. I'll always remember that.
