Millette "Mickey" Linsley

Okeechobee, FL

Millette "Mickey" Linsley, 68, of Okeechobee Florida, born April 9, 1948, peacefully passed away August 8th, 2016 at JFK Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents Melva and Ernest LaChapelle of Connecticut.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Debra Linsley of Okeechobee, Florida. Sisters Jan Swain, Kathy Sietz, and Nancy and Tony Generous of Connecticut. And brother Harold and Sue Linsley of Maine.

Son, Scott Linsley and granddaughter Rachel Linsley of Conneticut. Daughter Jeniffer Smith, her husband Jason Smith and grandchildren Jeniffer, Jessica, Jacob and Jace Smith of Mount Holly North Carolina. Son, Thomas Linsley, his wife Regina and grandchildren Justin and Emmalee Linsley of Port Saint Lucie Florida. And son Heath Linsley, fiancé Emily Gomez and grandson Logan Linsley of Port Saint Lucie Florida.

Mickey served in the United States Army out of high school and took pride in serving his country. Mickey worked in road construction for all of his adult life. He was a hard worker and loved by everyone he met. Mickey had an outstanding work ethic and was a model employee. He enjoyed the quiet life in Okeechobee, fishing, hunting, raising animals and the outside life. He treasured any time he could spend with family and was always the life of the party. He had a heart of gold and made sure nobody was around him without a smile.

Together, Mickey and his wife Debra started the "Green Drink Challenge" where hundreds of followers participated in getting healthier and cheering Mickey on in his fight against cancer. They also made and donated quilts to cancer patients.

A private family service will be held in honor of his life. The family asks in lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be sent to offset the cremation expenses to Debra Linsley, 15020 NW 266th St, Okeechobee, FL 34972

Kathy & Family,

Condolences on the passing of Mickey. I remember him from our teen years. He always was full of energy and always moving. What a guy. Think he was related to Harold Linsley who lived in apartment below us on Central Ave. Norwich. God bless.

Debra, Jan, Kathy , & Nancy please accept my condolences on the passing of "Mickey" . I remember quite well all of the long nights of "kick the can" until our folks called the game, and called us home. He is now with God in heaven.

How can I have a memory of someone I have never met? How can my heart ache for his wife when our entire friendship grew by happenstance? My tears are real, I know that. Through an on line fitness group, I met and learned to love both Mickey and Debra and, in fact, their whole family. The love and respect they had (have) for each other shone too brightly to be ignored. Debra calls Mickey her warrior, her hero, her love, and he was all that and more. Although Debra was instrumental and tireless in her fight to extend Mickey's life, his quiet presence was always there. The Mickey I knew through pictures and videos was a proud man; a man who was proud of himself, his wife, his family and his country. A good man. My life was enriched by having known him.

Mickey, I remember growing up with you and hanging with you like your shadow. You were so much fun to be with I could never get enough. I remember the day you moved to Florida, you stayed at my house the night before. When we called the New London Train Station to get the schedule we were informed that Elvis had died. We thought they were playing a mean trick on us but it turned out true. I will always remember your pig roasts too, in some really remote place in West Oalm Beach (think you all fell to sleep and roast over cooked, lol). But most fondly, I was there when you married your beautiful wife, Deb! Oh how happy you were. We all love you, you are at peace now my dear brother, Kathy Seitz
