Raymond Walch Obituary

Raymond E. Walch, 88, died Oct. 21, 2012, in Palm City. He was born in Waterbury, Conn., and lived in Martin County since 1975, coming from Norwalk, Conn. He was a math teacher of grades from one through college. Before retirement, he was a national author of mathematics text books. He taught at Palm Beach Junior College (now Palm Beach State College) and Florida Institute of Technology. He was a tournament level chess player. He was a veteran of the Army Air Forces. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marion Walch of Stuart; sons, Wayne E. Walch of Southington, Conn., Frank G. Walch of Monkton, Vt., Peter D. Walch of Ellington, Conn., and Harry H. Walch of Palm City; daughter, Susan Walch of Fairfield, Iowa; brother, Harold G. Walch of Waldoboro, Maine; and 10 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice Inc. 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34994. Services: Arrangements are by Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home, Stuart.
