Richard Jenkins Obituary

RICHARD LEE JENKINS Richard Lee Jenkins, 76, of Vero Beach died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage in Vero Beach, FL. He was born March 3, 1930 in Uhrichsville, OH and had been a winter resident of Vero Beach for 10 years and relocated to Vero Beach permanently 2 years ago, from Shelby, OH. Mr. Jenkins was the Chief Operating Officer for Shelby Business Forms for 33 years before his retirement in 1989. After retirement, he and his wife Peggy worked with the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program for 4 years. He served in the Ohio Air National Guard and retired as Major. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association. Mr. Jenkins was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Vero Beach, FL and the Trinity United Methodist Church, Shelby, OH. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Peggy Jenkins of Vero Beach, FL, son and daughter-in law, Richard Lee and Jill Jenkins II of Glen Allen, VA; daughter, Linda Jenkins of Dublin, OH; daughter and son-in-law Janet and David Baker of Shelby, OH; brother and sister-in- law, Ronald and Kay Jenkins of West Salem, OH; sister and brother- in-law, Dorothy and Gene Shorts of Milwaukee, WI; grandsons, Richard Lee Jenkins III, Trevor Will Jenkins and Salathiel David Baker; granddaughters , Kelsey Ann Elizabeth Jenkins, Melissa Marie Osborne and Julie Jenkins Baker and great-grandsons, Brody, Grayson and Colton. SERVICES: Visitation will be 10-11 am Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be at 11 am, Wednesday, at Asbury United Methodist Church Vero Beach with Rev. Frank McGown, Pastor, officiating. Mr. Jenkins will be transferred to the Barkdull Funeral Home, Shelby, OH. Interment will be in Nankin Cemetery, Nankin, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, in memory of Mr. Jenkins. Local Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home Vero Beach, FL.
