Ruth S. Longaker

RUTH S. LONGAKER Mrs. Ruth Smith Longaker, 87, died July 28 2007 at Atlantic Healthcare Center in Vero Beach. She was born in Vero Beach, Florida, and has been a lifetime resident. She was a 1937 graduate of Vero Beach High School and editor of the " Blotter". Mrs. Longaker retired as Office Manager for the Indian River County Property Appraisors office after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Choir for 50 years and was very active in the church. Mrs. Longaker was a member of the Indian River County Historical Society. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Robert Longaker of Vero Beach; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Pat Luther of Vero Beach; granddaughters, Rhonda Rene Hunsinger and her husband John of Lexington, SC and Adriana Marie- Luther Venturini and her husband Anthony of Winter Park, FL; great- grand children, Catherine Rene Hunsinger and Anthony Gavriel Venturini. Mrs. Longaker was preceded in death by her parents, Britton Gainer and Marie Bailey Smith; brothers, Lewis Ervin Smith and William A. Smith and sister, Jewell S. Marable. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Music Ministry, 2206 16th Ave., Vero Beach, Fl 32960 in memory of Mrs. Longaker. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach with Rev. James M. Newsome, Jr, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Vero Beach officiating
