Dr. Thomas I. Longworth

Dr. Thomas I. Longworth, 81, died March 4, 2008, at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. He was born in Rockville Centre, N.Y. and was a winter resident of Vero Beach for 23 years, coming from New London, N.H. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Before retirement he was the chief of surgery at Huntington Hospital in Huntington, N.Y., president of the staff and chief of the ambulatory surgery. He was a former member at the Hawk Nest Golf Club and the Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, N.H., and the Sea Oaks Beach and Tennis Club in Vero Beach. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia Longworth of Vero Beach; sons, David Longworth of Millburn, N.J., Christopher Longworth of Melbourne, Stephen Longworth of Montclair, N.J., Gregory Longworth of Irving, Texas, and Matthew Longworth of Vero Beach; daughter, Caroline Drew of Westwood, Mass.; sister Carol Fitzgerald of Cummings, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, FL Chapter, 8333 W. McNab Road, Suite 210, Tamarac, FL 33321. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. March 8 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Burial will be in the New London Cemetery in New Hampshire.
