Melanie,
I realize even though time has passed [be it ever sooooo slowly] the pain of loss is still fresh. Grieving is a very difficult job and there are no short cuts. I still believe we hurt so much because we love so much and I will take the pain because I have had the love. When I pass by Willoughby, I think of you and say a prayer for you and Alex. I know your amazing spirit and determination will give you the courage and tenacity to continue to face the many questions and challenges ahead. Your beautiful smile and caring spirit will be a continued source of grace and strength in the days, weeks, months and years to come. I close with loving healing thoughts and prayers.

Melanie and Alex
I'm so sad for both of you that I don't even know what to say. Billy could be such a stinker but then he would turn around and help people that he cared about. When I first started I was so nervous that I mailed a payroll check to someone and forgot to put on postage. Wouldn't you know that was a day that he went through the mail. He gave me that "look" and I was so nervous I mailed it again without postage!! And of couse he sorted the mail. We went to the breakroom and he showed it to me and I just new he was going to fire me and I started crying. He sat beside me and told me that "Everyone makes mistakes and for me not to worry because he knew I was smart". After that he never brought it up again. After that day I knew there where two sides to Billy. One side he didn't want people to see but he was so compassionate and generous with the people he cared about. Especially you & Alex.

You never knew day to day what would happen. One day, after he had been flying around in Louisana, he came back to the office with probably 10 large bags of shrimp so we spent a day cleaning shrimp and he gave everyone pounds of LARGE shrimp. He didn't do anything small. Melanie, remember Christmas and us wrapping presents. He would go through all of your presents, and number them, then I would wrap them in a certain way and usually certain colors so they would look good under the tree and you and I would wrap presents and talk. He loved Christmas with you guys!

Billy was so good to us-he actually spoiled us IN HIS OWN WAY. I remember everyday him coming in and he would look in my office and smile with that lopsided grin. Without the grin I knew it was going to be a long day.

I didn't mean to write a book but when you work with people for a long time they become like family. Melanie and Alex, God bless you and you pray and ask God for strength and he will get both of you though this. My mom passed away March of 05 and I spent a lot of time at Markey. Mom died from ovarian cancer and they were really good to her. I moved in to my parents home in January and took care of her until she died. It was hard so I know how you feel losing someone to cancer. It's a cruel disease.Melanie, I will call you sometime and when its convenient for you we could get together and visit. If you need me please call. Kathy Sapp Bradley

Melanie,
The entire Rose Family extends our deepest sympathy and compassion during this difficult time. We were in Stuart talking with Jeanne at the airport during the first part of April and she was telling us she had seen you and Billy was doing fine. We were so shocked to hear of his passing. May God hold you and Alex in His arms and bring you comfort during the difficult days ahead. We love you.

Dear Melanie,
We learned just two days ago of the passing of your dear husband and have been praying that you will have a special awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit, that you and your precious little girl will be comforted, and that memories of happy times together will grow ever brighter. We talked with your mother last night and have been praying for your entire family as you face your grandmother's illness. Such a dear lady she is. How sad we are for your loss.

I have happy memories of you in my high school English class and the events you and Marisa shared as children.

Love,
George and Carolyn Smith

Melanie
i want to extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy to Alex and you.
i have been praying for Billy and you all for several months. Tim has been keeping me updated.
i must share a story with you when i was with Billy in Ireland this past year. on the next to last day, he had to get Alex a gift. he knew exactly what he wanted. so after Golf that day, jim mcdowell and Billy steal a car, i mean they somehow get a car and drive at least 25 miles over rough roads breaking speed lomits to get there before the store closes. He wanted to buy an Irish doll for Alex. it was so cute. it was a great examply of a father's love for his daughter!
i wish i could be there but i am in Florida but i will be praying for you all today and over the nextr 2 or 3 weeks.
God bless
