Douglas Mackey Obituary

Douglas Lester Mackey, 86, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Longview, Washington. Born on October 4, 1939, Douglas lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family, community, and passions.

A proud graduate of RA Long High School, Douglas was a member of the 1957 swim team that earned third place at the state competition. In recognition of this achievement, he was inducted into the RA Long Hall of Fame in 2023. Following high school, Douglas served his country honorably in the Navy for four years before returning to Longview to build his life.

Douglas worked for the Cowlitz County Road Department until his retirement in 2006. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his career. Outside of work, he cherished time spent outdoors-hunting, fishing with his brother Dennis, camping with family, and enjoying all kinds of sports. In his youth, he loved skiing and swimming.

Douglas was a man of faith who worshipped at Robert Gray Baptist Church and East Kelso Baptist Church. His deep connection to these communities brought him comfort and joy throughout his life.

He is survived by his daughters: Kimberly Jacobson (Brant), Erin Krauter (Rodney), Kristen Orr (Mike), and Holly Holmes (Tommy); as well as 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda; his parents Lester and Geraldine Mackey; his brother Dennis; and a granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at East Kelso Baptist Church on March 14, 2026, at 1 p.m., where family and friends will gather to celebrate Douglas's remarkable life. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
