Edward Booth Obituary

Edward F. Booth

Edward Francis Booth, 76, of Longview died Oct. 30, 2007, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

He was born Feb. 7, 1931, in Sawyer, N.D., to Vance D. and Alma A. (Schoenwald) Booth and attended Sawyer schools.

Mr. Booth served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955. He moved to the local area from California in August 1963. He retired as a building contractor, having built many homes and apartment complexes in the Longview-Kelso area. He was a member of the Elks, Moose, Eagles and American Legion.

He took the time to teach his sons and grandsons about building and repairing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and keeping birds and chickens. He was always busy doing something. He was clearing off land at Newt Estates. He wanted to build a log cabin. He had a wonderful personality. He loved everybody and everybody who knew him, loved him too. He was very generous and would drop whatever he was doing to go help somebody else.

He married Mary "Joann" Booth on Sept. 18, 1955, in Las Vegas. She survives him at home. Also surviving are three sons and their spouses, William C. "Bill" and Theresa Booth and Brad and Roni Booth, all of Longview, and Robert "Bob" and Glenda Booth of Seattle; three grandsons, Garrett and Irena Booth and Spencer Booth, all of Longview and Collin Booth of Kelso; a granddaughter, Honour Booth in Hawaii, currently attending college in San Francisco; and a great-granddaughter, 4-month-old Ciara in Kelso. Ed thought she was the greatest. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Bob Schlecht of Longview; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Dolores Booth of Sawyer and Cecil and Carol Booth of Minot, N.D.

Mr. Booth was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald V. Booth.

A celebration of his life will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Kelso-Longview Elks, 900 Ash St. The Rev. Bob Giles will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632 or a charity of choice.

Arrangements are by Columbia Funeral Service.

On behalf of my Mom and Family,
Thank you to all of you who left a note of condolence to my family for our Dad's passing.
For anyone who wasn't there...
Dad's party celebrating his life was attended by at least 400 people. It was standing room only. It was a wonderful tribute to a man who contributed so much to so many.

Dad's grandson Garrett and his granddaughter Irina prepared and presented a several minute photo tribute to Dad. If you wish to view it it can be found at
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1Rx8YgGhau8

If you're going to watch it better have some tissue...:)

Bill and his family presented music in tribute to him, which included a song written by Garrett.

He was eulogized by several who knew him well and loved him much.

Thank you again so very much.

Aloha,
Robert Booth

Joann, Our prayers join the thousands that are being said for you and uncle Ed. I can't even say the name Ed Booth with out a flood of memories that force a smile from ear to ear. I listened to the stories he would tell with my grandpa Emil and I remember the honey bee adventure with he and my dad, Bill, and him dropping everything off from wall nuts to corn by the house to my mom, Jean and of course I will never forget fishing with Uncle Bob and Ed. He made every adventure a great time. and every stranger a friend. We will all miss his smile humor and of course his stories. God be with you.

JoAnn and Family
It was a gift to have known Ed. His wisdom, laughter and friendship was a honor to have touched our family's lives. God made the skies and the oceans, the trees, the animals and rainbows, the mountains, the flowers and made Ed to touch everyone's lives that he had met. He will always be remembered by our family. He will now be a star shining brightly in all of our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, JoAnn, and the rest of the family. We wish you love and comfort to get through this sad time. He will truly be missed by our family.

Love always,
