Gary Lynn Lau

WALDPORT, OR - Gary Lynn Lau, 69, of Waldport, OR, passed away on January 14, 2024. Born April 1, 1954, in Longview, WA, Gary was a hardworking and extremely loving man, who could fix anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Among his hobbies, Gary had a passion for golfing and enjoyed hunting, particularly sheep hunts in Alaska with his son. He found great joy in spending time with his family and numerous friends.
Gary was a devoted father and overjoyed to be a grandpa to Charley Lau, whom he loved dearly. Gary was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his granddaughter later this year. He had a kind and generous heart and was always there to support his family.
In his career, Gary worked in the oil fields all over the world and later started Precision Wireline in Alaska. Participating in the clean of the Exxon Valdez was a thrilling time for him. He also owned two golf courses, Olalla Valley Golf Course in Toledo, OR, and Baker's Edge Golf Course in Kendall, WA. Gary was a jack of all trades and a true entrepreneur, having developed properties throughout his life.
A celebration of life for Gary will be held in the spring in Longview. Preparations for the service are being handled by Bateman's Funeral Home in Newport, OR.
Gary is survived by his son, Chancellor Lau; his daughter, Jenny Lau; his grandson, Charley Lau; his soon-to-be granddaughter, and his brothers, Larry and Terry Lau. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Lau, and his father, Fred Lau.
Gary Lynn Lau will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his dog Haas. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and friends.

Gary was my cousin in younger years. There was always Christmas celebration at its mom and dad`s house growing up with birthday parties. He was two months younger than me so sorry for your loss he was a good person.

Gary´s celebration of life will be held May 4th in Longview at the Woman´s Club building at 2 pm.
