I am the son of Edward C. Holtz, Ernas' brother. I am very sorry for your loss of a great man. Because of distance, I don't know that I even met your father, husband. If I did,I was very young. I am so proud to be related to such interesting, successful and influential people. I hope you are well Erna. I do remember you. I think of you and I think of joy and laughter. You made that impression on me. I am well. I know you will miss your husband. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Erna, Allen, and Ernie - It was very sad news to hear of your loss. I'll never forget Harold's wry sense of humor, his intelligence, and his devotion to Erna and you boys. His scientific contributions to the nation were important, and he continued to be a contributing community member all his life. I'm proud to have known Harold Houtz. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Dear Erna, Allen and Ernie,

I was saddened to hear of Harold's passing. He was one of the most influential persons in my life. I will miss his friendship and his annual Christmas letters.
I regret not being able to attend the memorial service due to the very short notice.

My sincere sympathy, Ed Porter

It was an honor to know Harold through Rotary and the many years of helping his family with their travel reservations. I will certainly miss his smiling face every Wednesday at Rotary and my deepest sympathies go out to the wonderful Houtz Family.

Erna, Allen & Ernie:

We share your loss. We'll always keep dear to our hearts the memories of Christmas dinners at the Houtz home.

Ernie, I still have and cherish the Weyerhaeuser Post pocket slide rule that your dad gave me so many years ago. Engineering was one of the things we shared with you and your dad. That and the joys of shooting. Those are really great memories.

I lost my mother 10 years ago. I still miss her. I know you will miss your dad always. Condolences from all of us.

Dear Erna and family,

We were sorry to learn of Harold's
passing. I have always thought he
was someone special. I remember the
years I worked at the Weyerhaeuser
Chemical plant when Doc was there.
We always were pleased to see he and
Erna around Longview and when we did
our neighborhood walk. Please accept our deepest sympathies.

Sincerely,

Terry & Anita Hopkins
