Lesley Purtteman Obituary

Lesley Purtteman

January 7, 1958 - January 22, 2025

On January 22, 2025 our Dad, brother and good friend passed away from bone marrow cancer at the age of 67. He was born January 7, 1958 in Everett, Wash. Les was one of seven children.

Les was a kind, giving and friendly man. He was devoted to his family, he cared for his wife through her cancer and subsequent death. Les retired early to live with and help care for his Mom in Dayton, Wash. until her death in August 2024. We will all miss him and his smile very much.

Les was a well respected salesman all his life. he loved selling.... making deals. His Mom would comment that Les could sell the shirt right off your back! He also loved a good buy, there was not a garage sale sign that he could pass without stopping.

Lesley married the love of his life, June Gates from Kalama, Wash. They had a special relationship and a happy marriage. They shared two children, daughter, Sarah Shew and son, Kyle Purtteman.

Les was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Bonne Snyder; brothers, Randy and Lonn; and his wife, June.

Les is survived by his children, Sarah and Kyle; sister, Lissa (Tom) Greene; brothers, Garry (Anne) Snyder, Dennis (Tarah) Purtteman and Kevin (Jason) Snyder. He also leaves behind a special friend, Dennis Meza who cared for him at home and while in the hospital. Our family is so grateful for her help and love for Les. He also leaves behind his friends and co-workers at Unique RV in Longview, longtime friends Tommy Bryant and Chuck Gogleman.

At Lesley's request there will not be a service. His ashes will be scattered at a predetermined location along with his wife and parents.

He will be lovingly remembered in all our hearts forever.

Les was a kind, caring friend. In my lifetime I have known few people about whom noone has a harsh word to say, Les was one of those people. I was fortunate to know him and my life was better because of his friendship. The world is a colder place without Les and his smile. I am proud to have been his friend.

Les and many of his siblings came to stay with brother Lonn in Arlington at various times. I was always struck by the kindness and acceptance offered to a young awkward boy in those years. Les had a great sense of humor and made friends easily. I felt like I was uplifted by association. I very much treasure the time that I was able to spend with Les, and all of Lonn's siblings.

Les is my dearest friend and he will be missed. He just retired a couple of months ago. He had lots of plans and dreams.

Les was a terrific guy! He was married to my cousin June so I've known him for many years. I last got to see him twice this past October when I came for a visit from Georgia and I will definitely miss sharing Chinese food, laughter, and stories with him and his mother-in-law Bev. Sarah and Kyle, know that you were loved by your parents and still are by family.

Les was a great friend! He was always there if needed and would do anything to help. Les was like a big brother, someone that
you could look up to. He will be greatly missed by myself and many others.
