Norma Christie Obituary
She was born in Jamestown, N.D., Jan. 25, 1955, to Dale and Crystal Christie. The family moved to Vancouver in 1956 and in her teens Norma moved to Seattle where she worked as a retail clerk until moving to Longview in 1994.
Her son, Doug, was the world to her. Norma leaves behind her precious son, Doug (Jackie) Christie; three grandchildren, Doug Jr., Chantel and Takari; her mother, Crystal Elmore of Vancouver; her companion, John Malone of Longview; a brother, Dale (Lisa) Christie II of Buckley, Wash.; three sisters, Connie (Randy) Schrieber of Camas, Wash., Melody (Fred) Logue of Vancouver and Suzan Christie of Vancouver; three nieces; five nephews; three great-nieces; four great-nephews; and her beloved dog, Rosta.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1984; and brother, David, in 1959.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver.
Donations may be made to the SW Washington Humane Society.

Norma was a beautiful woman w/a Happy refreshing Soul. My family knew her for 25+ years. We ran track with her son 79-81- Jesse Owens & My sister worked with her at LUCKYS Rainer Beach, & Big Bear. When I had my first child in 90 I had the blessing of being able to bring my babygirl to the Albertsons Skyway to visit her while shopping. All she could talk about was HER baby playing college ball. She STILL had that Happy Boss Lady spirit, amazing smile & hair stayed luscious & slayed, Always in place! Memories!! My entire fam were saddened to hear of her passing. Heaven gained a TRUE ANGEL! Condolences to the ENTIRE Christie/Malone families.

Dear Christies,
Over the past few years, I came to really appreciate Norma's spirit and wit in the face of a very painful and debilitating illness. She always had a smile for our staff, and we often talked about pro basketball and our mutual desires to see Doug play for the TrailBlazers. Norma was very courageous. I take comfort in knowing that she is now with Jesus, and no longer suffering.

Norma - You are very much loved and will be remembered throughout the rest of my life for your strong and kindheartedness towards those in need. It takes a very strong individual to go through some of the heartaches and turmoils that you did and still remained so strong to all. you are very much missed and loved, and left your footprints in the hearts that you touched. Doug, i'm so very sorry to hear about your Mom. We worked together in Skyway and she was a dear friend. I'm saddened we'd lost touch in '94. I've been trying to find her since i returned to Seattle, and was stunned to see her obituary. Please know you and your family--and especially your mom-- are in my thoughts and prayers. I have great memories of her, and will look forward to the day when i see her again. Please Take Care, and Doug--smile knowing how much happiness you brought to her life. God's blessings to you all.
