Patrick Lloyd Obituary
Patrick John Lloyd passed away on November 30, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 79.
Born on July 3, 1946, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Patrick was the fourth son of Robert and Alice Lloyd. He spent his early years in Foley, Minnesota, where he often recalled a childhood shaped by snowy winters, hand-me-down clothes, and a strong sense of family. At the age of five, Patrick and his family relocated to Longview, Washington-a place that would become central to his life.
Patrick attended St. Rose Catholic Elementary School and graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1964. He pursued higher education at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1969.
In 1972, Patrick returned to Longview and held jobs at a pawn shop and a tavern before beginning a twelve-year career with Weyerhaeuser. During this time, he returned to school at Portland State University and earned his CPA license. For the final four years of his tenure at Weyerhaeuser, he worked as an accountant-marking the beginning of a career that would bring him both personal fullfilment and joy.
In 1975, Patrick met Noni Blakely. They married in 1979 and later adopted two children: Neal Patrick Lloyd in 1985 and Erica Lindsey Lloyd in 1989. Patrick often expressed that their decision to adopt was rooted in his desire to build a strong family foundation and provide for his children in ways he had long envisioned.
From 1989 until his retirement in 2011, Patrick worked as a CPA at the Cowlitz County Public Utility District (PUD). He found great meaning in his work and developed many lasting friendships during this time. Even after retiring, he continued to assist others with taxes and financial matters-offering guidance with the same dedication he brought to his professional life.
Though Patrick and Noni divorced in 2010, they remained close friends, united by their shared commitment to their children and extended family. In the final chapter of his life, Patrick shared a loving relationship with Barbara Scroggins. Together they embraced her family, and life with warmth and shared values.
The last six months of Patrick's life were spent at The Finest Care Adult Family Home in Vancouver, Washington, where he faced Lewy Body Dementia with courage and dignity. His naturally social spirit and generosity endeared him to the caregivers there-particularly Fe and Romel-who became like family during this time.
Patrick found joy in simple pleasures: walking around Lake Sacajawea, traveling abroad, collecting rocks from historical sites, enjoying "patio meetings" with close friends, spending time with family, and watching programs like 60 Minutes, history specials, and Jeopardy!. He will be remembered for his warm smile, selflessness, generosity, and deep care for those around him.
He is survived by his brother Jerry (Sharon) Lloyd; sister-in-law Linda Lloyd; his children Neal Lloyd and Erica Sherrow (Taylor); seven nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Alice Lloyd; and his brothers Dennis Lloyd and Thomas Lloyd.
A funeral service will be held on January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park for close friends and family. A celebration of Patrick's life will follow from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Monticello Hotel ballroom in Longview, Washington. All are welcome to join in honoring and celebrating Patrick's life.
