Rosalie Ann Herstrom

November 6, 1931 - March 5, 2025

A life long resident of Rainier, Oregon, Rosalie was born November 6, 1931 to George and Leona Jacobs in Longview, Washington and died, age 93 at Delaware Plaza in Longview. She graduated from Rainier High School in 1949 and married Ira Mitchell in 1950. After Ira's death in 1962, Rosalie worked at the Bridgeview Tobacco Shop in Rainier until her marraige to Walter Herstrom in 1967.

Rosalie loved the outdoors: gardening, bird watching, fishing, camping, and sightseeing trips with Walter to parks and botanical gardens. Rosalie and Walter also visited family and friends in Arizona, California, and Montana. She loved animals, especially cats - her own and every stray that came to her big beautiful yard. When Walter died in 2001, Rosalie's travels ended but she continued to find joy in nature, reading, and listening to music. She regularly attended the Rainier Community Church of God and participated in the Rainier Senior Center.

Rosalie was loved and admired by family and friends for her quiet strength in adversity, her dry sense of humor and her amazing memory. She was happy to share her knowledge of local history, plants and animals. She was an unselfish sister and friend who listened and cared. She was careful with money for her own modest needs, but generous in giving to the many organizations and charities she supported.

Rosalie was predeceased in 2020 by her sister Georgine Jacobs. She is survived by sisters Jean Neusse of Kearny, Arizona, Judi Ridderbusch (Edd) of Ontario California and six nieces and nephews.

Rosalie's gravesite service and internment was arranged by Groulx Mortuary at Hudson Cemetery in Rainier March 12, 2025 with Eden Hospice chaplain Stephanie Jones officiating and close friends attending. Thanks to all who prayed for and supported Rosalie through her time in hospice at Delaware Plaza.
