Albert J. Bean Jr., 75

AUBURN - Albert J. Bean Jr., 75, of Auburn, died at home Sunday, March 29, surrounded by his family.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Elaine F. (Walsh) Bean; five children, Margaret F. Freeman of Auburn, Joseph A. Bean of Oxford, Timothy M. Bean of Charlton, Thomas C. Bean and his wife Kerstin of Auburn, and Kevin P. Bean of Charlton; three grandchildren, Edward Freeman, Megan Bean and Michael Bean; a brother, Robert L. Bean of Townsend; and many nieces and nephews.

Al was born in Worcester son of Albert J. and Lillian H. (Alex) Bean. He graduated from South High School.

Albert was president and owner of Offset Service, Inc. of Worcester, where he worked for 44 years retiring in 2001.

He was a former president of the Worcester County Printing House Craftsmen and the Auburn Kiwanis Club. He was a longtime member of the Emerald Club and received the club's highest honor in 2001, the Shillelagh Award.

Al enjoyed cooking for friends and family. He loved socializing with friends and preparing the pig roast for tailgaters at Holy Cross College football games.

Calling hours are Tuesday, March 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Wednesday, April 1, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Mass. Hospice, 191 Pakachoag St., Auburn 01501, or to the Massachusetts General Hospital, in care of the Development Office, 100 Cambridge St., Suite 1310, Boston, 02114.
