Albert E. Galipeau, 91
Southbridge - Albert E. Galipeau, 91, of Charlton St., died Friday, April 6th., in the Radius Healthcare Center, Southbridge, after a brief illness.
His first wife of 35 years, Lena M. (Trifone) Galipeau, died in 1982. His second wife of 19 years, Jeanne (St. Michel), died in 2007. He leaves four sons, Paul Galipeau and his long time companion Constance L'Ecuyer of Southbridge, Kenneth Galipeau and his partner Steven Mirman of Philadelphia, PA, David Galipeau and his wife Donna of Southbridge, and Brian Galipeau of Southbridge; a daughter, Diane MacCormack of Southbridge; a stepson, George Desaulniers of Winthrop; a brother, George Galipeau of Thorndike; a sister, Rita Smith of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren, Lisa Provost, Kim Bridgeo, Chris MacCormack, Matthew Galipeau, Sean MacCormack and Craig Galipeau; 5 great grandchildren, Karina Provost, Allie Provost, Emma Provost, Ryan MacCormack and Dylan MacCormack, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Roland Galipeau, Romeo Galipeau and Charles Galipeau and two sisters, Alice Mroczek and Beatrice LaVallee. He was born in Southbridge the son of Alexander and Eva (Mayotte) Galipeau. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Panama and Japan.
Albert worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 40 years, retiring many years ago. He also worked part time as a cook for Pino's Restaurant and Pete's Diner, both in Southbridge. He was a member of the Detriana council 199 of the Knights of Columbus in Southbridge. He was a faithful volunteer with the Food Share in Southbridge. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 10th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral Home will be held on Monday, April 9th, from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
