Alice (Gardner) Janda, 91, formerly of Haskell Ave., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Sterling Village on Saturday, February 4, 2012. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, William C. Janda. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Parker, wife of the late James A. Parker, of Foxboro; Carole Davis and her husband Edward of Colonie, NY; a son, Charles W. Janda and his wife Sharon of Glen Carbon, IL. She leaves two sisters, Ruth Contois of KY; Grace Peceraro of FL; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends. Alice was born in East Weymouth to the late Harold and Alice Gardner. Upon relocating to Clinton at a young age, she attended local schools and graduated from the Clinton High School Class of 1938. Alice completed studies at the Clinton Hospital School of Nursing and began her vocation in healthcare. She spent her career as a Registered Nurse with Clinton Hospital, from where she ultimately retired as Director of Nursing. She worked as a supervisor for the former Fallon Nursing Home in Clinton and later as a home health aide. Alice was an active life member of the United Church of Clinton. She welcomed stray cats into her home and took pleasure in arts and crafts, notably knitting, crochet and sewing. Alice never missed a game of Bingo and most cherished time spent in the company of her loving family.

I will always cherish my memories of Alice. I remember having sleepovers with her granddaughter and Alice making the best breakfast poach eggs on toast. She was very caring and thoughtful person. Alice loved her husband, children and grandchildren so very much. Rest in peace Alice.

There were many Mondays I would beg my mom and dad to let me stay just one more day...so I could partake in Monday night coffee. Having Ma, Pa, Girt and Alice on the porch would be the highlight of the week. Last year I was at Sterling and I was so glad to see her. She knew I was a Nilsson right off. I have no doubt that coffee night will start right back up. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Good night Alice.
